The Club is planning an outing to Lasch Conservation Center on Saturday, January 15 at 10 AM to see the Confederate submarine the Hunley and the latest recovered artifacts. Please join us!

Select this link to RSVP and buy tickets online.

On the night of February 17, 1864, the Hunley sank the USS Housatonic off the coast of Charleston and then disappeared. In 1995 Clive Cussler located the submarine which was raised on August 8, 2000. I remember watching it on TV!  For more information, go to this link.

The tours of the submarine are much less structured than in the past. Guides are available to answer questions but there is no formal tour structure. At some point visitors climb 17 steps to look down on the submarine in its preservative water chamber.

Arrive in time for entering around 10 AM. The address is 1250 Supply St., North Charleston, SC 29405.  If weather permits, we will go to the CODfather for lunch, it is right around the corner from the Hunley, see the map below.  They have outside seating.

Hope to see you there!
